As a kid I grew up overseas in some very poor countries indeed, but one thing always struck me. Kids had respect for their elders and authority. As a 17 year old I use to walk around towns and villages in Egypt and feel very safe. The parents of Liberian kids living in the bush always made sure that their offspring were always neat,tidy and POLITE!. Shame some of the Chav parents in this counrty don’t do the same. The trouble is they all have it too easy and live in a  “musthava” and ” I wanna be a celebrity” state…..don’t get me started on that one either

Anyway I digress, this basic demo track SandMaiden was born out fustration one night when my daughter Emily was about a year old. I was trying to record the track inbetween running up and down the stairs trying console a sick child. In the end with both of us half dead, I went for the solo’s one last time then  fell a sleep at the puta

I was going to record them again but I think they sound great, warts n’ all. Luckily in my “move” 5 years ago I still have the master on cd. So over the next few weeks I will redo the backing track.

Recorded with George Lynch Kami 2 into a V-Amp 2 ( fair superior than a Pod IMHO ).

After listening to it again last week it’s not too bad considering I crushed my thumb. I gave the track a quick brush up and re jigged a few bits. I have the incentive now to record more stuff and improve.

Recorded with my Ibanez RG565 through a PodXt straight into a PC. All the little solo’s were one takes, thats how I normally work. I Listen to the track then go for it, too scared to try again and fuck it up  :-)  The harmony bits were done by dipping the “wang” bar. Apart from that pretty standard rock stuff.

So any guitarist out there who ever gets a hand or finger injury don’t give up. You may have to re learn things or even change the way you play. It’s worth it.

I have got together with the talented Clive Murray, Mark Lemon and Vince Webb formerly of The Kalm, to form a metal covers band. Really looking forward to that. It is great to be playing more guitar lateley. I have really missed it. The band is called Panik Attakk..very 80’s!. No doubt a website will appear with various dodgy entertainment

This has lead me to believe I am uninteresting and talk a load of bollox……but you knew that anyway

So as of next week i will be ranting everyday about what is currently pissing me off. starting with drivers who indicate after they have turned the corner!. what the fuck is that all about?. I sit there and wait for a gap in the traffic thinking this or that car/van/truck is going to go straight on, then the twat turns then indicates!!. Bad driving and lack of consideration for fellow drivers.

We live in a very self obsessed world at the moment. We need a major holocaust to make people realize how insignificant they are…..yes a bit extreme I know.

This is what metal is about to me. The Adler brothers are fuckin’ awesome. Tight as a ducks arse! There is definitely a “connection” of sorts when brothers (or sisters ) play in a band together. They sort of second guess what each other is thinking. My brother Stuart (bass) and I used to play in a band together in the 80’s, before we both became “failed rock stars”!. We definitely had that “connection” thing going on. Very scary sometimes. I miss that a lot, but he gave up playing years ago Other brotherly connections:

• The Van Halens
• The Schenkers
• The Amotts ( Arched Enemy )
• The Olivas ( Savatage)
• The Nelsons
